About this place
For anyone looking for a proper meal at a bar, the first dish to catch the eye is ILLUSIONS’ Napolitan. Thick-cut bacon is slowly fried, then tossed with fresh, chewy pasta and a rich, distinctive ketchup sauce. Diners have remarked on its deep tomato flavour, making it an appealing choice for a night of drinks and dinner, or for a visit centred on the food.
For something lighter, try the mushrooms grilled on a ceramic plate and stuffed with garlic, onion and cured ham. They are recommended with sherry, so choosing a glass to match is part of the pleasure.
The cocktail menu includes fruit cocktails made with freshly squeezed seasonal fruit. One visitor mentioned enjoying a peach cocktail, and the fruit on offer may be worth asking about when you visit. For more aroma and bitterness than sweetness, there is also infused Campari steeped with coffee beans, cacao nibs and orange peel. The menu describes its soda version as light, while a Negroni brings out a deeper character.
Bar ILLUSIONS is in the basement of the Iio Building in Nakano 2-chome. Alongside counter and table seating, it has a private room, available for groups from 2 people. Reservations are accepted. It could suit a leisurely meal and drinks for two, as well as a gathering looking for a private space.
